Scenes from Stately Wasser Manor

Steve: You're not going running tomorrow, are you?
Betsy: ...
Steve: Betsy, the weather report used the words "dangerously cold" to describe tomorrow's temperatures. It's not even going to get to zero.
Betsy: But...
Steve: Seriously, it's a bad idea. Promise me you won't do it.
Betsy: Fine, I'll go to the gym and run on the catlicking treadmill.

I feel that it would be appropriate to use a quote from 'The Dark Knight' here: "I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger."

Go running in impossibly cold weather. If you complete a run of decent length, it will confirm your exceptional...ness among mere mortals. In fact, this will probably increase.

If you have to stop partway through because you're doing real damage to a body tissue(s), you will have discovered a limit. In this case, you should ideally be close enough to home or a Walgreen's that you'll be able to reach it before said damage is irreversible.

Be careful out there...it's -35 here and I think that's officially too cold to go outside.

And I like to keep in mind the quote I saw on a Demotivational poster, "that which does not kill us only delays the inevitable"

Or Starbucks for Coffee...

This weather is grueling. I have become way too familiar with my treadmill as well this winter. 4 miles seem like 8 or 9 miles, and the only ONLY benefit is being able to play the "run this mountain" game. I am really looking forward to long runs with my running group again.

I don't know what's worse, sub-zero temps or the treadmill?

You are most definitely hardcore. Good on you. :)

As someone who just ran on the catlicking treadmill, I take the subzero double-digits and a face mask any day.

Haha, so what did you end up doing?

Just ran outside in temps not near yours. But I hate treadmills. Stay warm!

My husband is no longer trying to get sense into me. He knows I'll get out there no matter what. It's much harder for me to skip a training run. Ana-Maria (from Boston)
